with warm heated mitts or booties. A lovely treatment to balance the whole body with energy zones on the feet and hands relating to energy zones to the body. Reflexology works in a similar way to acupressure and acupuncture. There are certain points on the feet and hands that correspond to the organs and glands in the body. So by pressing and massaging these points it can stimulate energy pathways in the body. If any energy pathways are blocked reflexology aims to unblock them, allowing the energy to flow freely again which aims to restore balance to the body.
an energy balancing treatment that promotes healing by activating the relaxation response & helping the body to balance itself from a deep level.
Case Study for triple negative breast cancer using Reiki
1st session of Reiki – a house visit
Before massage-feeling quite anxious due to forth coming new chemo and surgery. Once Reiki started & positioning correct, I tried to just focus solely on the background relaxing music. This session was done in my house.
During session-gradual relaxation & I felt my anxiety getting less. On occasions my mind floated to other things but I tried to re focus, remembering what Sam had said to me at the beginning of the session- ” listen to the rhythm of the slow music and focus on that, hum away in head if need to, close eyes and concentrate on breathing slowly”. Towards the end of the session I felt very relaxed.
Post session– I felt less stressed about things after the reiki, especially effective on my headache- which is daily at the moment.
2nd Session– house visit
Pre Reiki- I had been feeling quite anxious so was looking forward to relaxing.
During Reiki– I found it easier to concentrate than before. Still found my mind did wander but focussing on the quietness and music helped. This session was done in my house.
Post Reiki– I felt much better and managed a good nights sleep, something I often struggle with.
3rd session- this treatment was done in Sam’s tranquil cosy cabin
Pre Reiki- feeling more relaxed as I had done a couple of meditation sessions of my own to help with my concentration.
During Reiki – Due to the peace and quiet in Sam’s Beauty Cabin, I was able to concentrate much better than before. The calm sleep music also helped that was playing.
Post Reiki – I had a much needed afternoon sleep as I felt quite tired after the session. I felt good afterwards.
4th Reiki session – carried out in the cabin
Pre Reiki – Tired but awake at 6am – early for me. Feel dehydrated after diarrhoea was bad but also after the chemotherapy
During – The calming atmosphere in the cabin puts me at ease and the cosy electric blanket adds that special touch to keep me warm. Mind still wanders but I do try to come back from that, although living with cancer it is hard at times.
Post Reiki – I do prefer my massage and reflexology but the reiki did help to relax me and I felt some warmth off Sam’s hands even though fully clothed and a blanket over me, which is probably a blockage and energy being released to help healing of the body.
